How this pro-rata salary estimate is calculated
The calculator applies your weekly-hours and paid-weeks ratios to the quoted full-time annual salary.
Published by Irish Calculators. Rates, rules and assumptions are maintained against the official sources linked below.
- Your weekly hours are divided by the full-time weekly hours to calculate the hours or FTE percentage.
- Your paid weeks are divided by the full-time paid weeks to calculate any shorter-working-year adjustment.
- The two ratios are multiplied by the full-time annual salary to estimate pro-rata gross salary.
- Monthly, weekly and daily results are derived from that annual amount; daily pay uses your selected working days.

About This Pro-Rata Salary Calculator
Use this calculator for part-time hours, a three-day or four-day week, job sharing, reduced hours, term-time work or a shorter working year. It compares your paid hours and weeks with the full-time role.
Core formula. Pro-rata salary = full-time annual salary × (your weekly hours ÷ full-time weekly hours) × (your paid weeks ÷ full-time paid weeks).
Paid annual leave. Paid leave should not normally be treated as an unpaid week. The WRC annual-leave guidance explains that employees, including part-time workers, accrue paid annual leave under Irish working-time rules.
Gross result. The outputs are before PAYE, USC, PRSI, pension and other payroll deductions. After calculating the new annual amount, use the Net Salary Calculator for an estimated take-home figure.
Hourly-paid role? If you are paid a rate for every hour rather than a pro-rata share of a full-time salary, use the Hourly to Annual Salary Calculator.
This is a planning estimate. Your contract, collective agreement, public-service circular or payroll policy may use additional rules or rounding.
