Who controls the data
Irish Calculators is responsible for the first-party processing described in this policy. Privacy questions and data-rights requests can be sent through the contact page.
Calculator inputs
In normal use, calculator inputs are processed in your browser to show an estimate and are not stored on our server. Do not enter names, account numbers, PPS numbers, health information, or other sensitive information that a calculator does not request.
Calculator results are informational estimates. Irish Calculators does not use them to make automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects.
Contact messages
If you contact us, we may process your name, email address, message, page URL, IP/security metadata, and any information you choose to include. We use it to answer you, investigate errors, prevent spam, and maintain a record of the request for as long as reasonably necessary.
First-party site insights and consent records
With analytics consent, Irish Calculators may record limited events such as a calculator/page identifier, page URL, referral source, broad device type, engagement or share action, and timestamp. These events do not intentionally store calculator input values, names, email addresses, full IP addresses, or full user-agent strings.
Detailed insight events are normally retained for 90 days; an administrator may configure a period from 30 to 365 days. Aggregated daily totals may be retained longer.
The consent system may store a consent identifier, consent version, category choices, page URL, partially anonymised IP address, browser/device details, and timestamp. Consent records are normally retained for up to 12 months. A preference cookie and local-storage record may remember the choice for up to 180 days.
Technical, security, and service data
Hosting, content-delivery, security, form, and server systems may process IP address, browser/device information, timestamps, requested URLs, referral information, and error or security logs. This is used to deliver the site, prevent abuse, diagnose faults, and keep the service secure and reliable.
Google services, analytics, and advertising
The site may use Google Site Kit to connect services such as Search Console, Analytics, and AdSense. Search Console reporting does not require a visitor cookie on this site. Google Analytics and AdSense may use cookies, local storage, device information, IP address, and usage data when active and permitted by the visitor’s consent choices.
Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s previous visits to this website or other websites. Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this site and/or other sites on the internet. Users can manage personalised advertising in Google Ads Settings. Further information is available in Google’s advertising technologies information and Google’s Privacy Policy.
For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, a Google-certified consent message may present purposes, vendors, and a “Manage options” control before advertising storage or personalised ads are allowed. Contextual or limited ads may still be shown where permitted.
Lawful bases and retention
Depending on the activity, processing is based on: consent for optional analytics, advertising, and related storage; legitimate interests in securing, maintaining, and improving the service; steps requested by you when creating a share link or submitting an enquiry; and legal obligations where a record must be kept.
We keep personal data only as long as needed for the stated purpose, security, dispute handling, or legal requirements. The specific periods above apply to share links, insight events, and consent records. Hosting/security logs and contact records can have different periods set by the relevant service and operational need.
You may withdraw consent at any time through the cookie settings or Google consent controls. Withdrawal does not make earlier consent-based processing unlawful.
Service providers, sharing, and international transfers
Information may be processed by providers that support hosting, security, forms, analytics, consent management, and advertising. We do not sell calculator inputs or contact details. Data may also be disclosed where required by law or needed to protect the site and its users.
Some providers, including Google, may process information outside Ireland or the EEA. Where required, they rely on recognised transfer safeguards. Review the linked provider privacy information for details of its processing and safeguards.
Your privacy rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase, restrict, object to, or receive a portable copy of personal data, and to withdraw consent. These rights can be subject to legal exceptions.
To make a request, use the contact page and identify the information or interaction involved. You may also complain to Ireland’s Data Protection Commission.
