Cookie Policy
How cookies and similar technologies are used for consent choices, essential functions, optional analytics, and Google advertising.

Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small text files stored by a browser. Local storage, consent strings, and similar technologies can also remember choices, operate features, measure use, or support advertising. Strictly necessary storage is used where required to provide a requested service or remember privacy choices. Optional analytics and advertising storage is used only when active and permitted by the applicable consent choice.
Cookies and similar storage used or available on this site
| Provider / example | Category and purpose | Typical duration |
|---|---|---|
Irish Calculators consent preferenceirish_cookie_consent_v1 and matching local storage | Strictly necessary. Remembers the categories selected, consent version, time, and consent identifier so the choice can be respected. | Up to 180 days |
| Server-side consent record | Strictly necessary accountability record. May include the selected categories, page, partially anonymised IP address, and browser/device details. | Normally up to 12 months |
| WordPress, form, security, and session storage | Strictly necessary when required for administrator sessions, form protection, security, load balancing, or a feature requested by the visitor. | Session or provider-defined period |
Google Analytics_ga, _ga_*, or equivalent | Optional analytics. Distinguishes visits and helps measure how pages and calculators are used when Analytics is connected and analytics consent is given. | Controlled by the Google Analytics property and browser; commonly up to 2 years |
Google AdSense / advertising__gads, __gpi, IDE, consent strings, or equivalent | Optional advertising. Supports ad delivery, frequency control, fraud prevention, measurement, and—only where consent permits—personalisation. | Varies by cookie, consent, and Google settings |
Names and durations can change when a provider updates its technology, when browser restrictions apply, or when a service is not connected. A listed optional technology is not necessarily set on every visit.
Google consent and advertising controls
For visitors in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, the Google-certified consent message can provide details of advertising purposes and vendors and a “Manage options” control. Your choice is communicated using applicable consent signals. Advertising storage and personalised advertising require the relevant consent; Google may use limited or contextual ad serving where permitted.
Google explains its use of advertising technologies at policies.google.com/technologies/ads. Personalised advertising can also be managed through Google Ads Settings.
Managing or withdrawing your choice
Use the Cookie settings link in the website footer to review the Irish Calculators preference categories. Where a Google European regulations message is shown, use its Manage options control for Google advertising purposes and vendors. Rejecting or withdrawing optional consent should be as easy as accepting it.
You can also delete or block cookies in your browser. Deleting site data may remove a saved preference, so the consent message may appear again. Blocking strictly necessary storage can affect security, forms, logged-in sessions, or preference memory.
Policy updates
We may update this policy when services, providers, cookie names, consent choices, or legal requirements change. The date at the top shows the latest published revision.
Cookie and privacy information
